Share the purpose, approximate size, what it connects to and any constraints. A rough drawing with dimensions is more useful than a polished moodboard without them.
THEN
Agree the design scope.
If CAD modelling or engineering is required, scope, ownership, fees and deliverables need agreement before that work begins. Manufacturing is a separate approval.
BEFORE MAKING
Turn the idea into requirements.
Confirm the model, dimensions, process, material, finish and how success will be checked. An inspirational image alone is not a production specification.
